About our Drawer Microwave Trim Kits

Let's dive into some details regarding drawer microwaves and our trim kits.  Drawer microwaves are wonderful appliances which free up valuable countertop space, but getting them to fit existing (or even new) cabinets can be a challenge.  Our custom trim kits are designed to give your drawer microwave the built-in look you're after.

What's included:  Each drawer microwave trim kit contains hardware to raise/center the microwave in the opening, brackets to secure it so it doesn't shift during use, and a decorative front trim piece to hide the gaps and provide a built-in look.

Depth:  Our kits for drawer microwaves are 15/16" deep.   Some drawer microwaves have flip down control panels and this depth ensures easy access to these panels.

Material:  Our kits are all metal except for the plastic mounting brackets at each corner.

Ventilation:  Drawer microwaves typically ventilate through the front and therefore a trim kit will not impede air flow.  That being said, our kits to incorporate a 1/2" slot around the perimeter which provides for ample ventilation just to provide added protection.

Installation:  Installation typically takes only about 15 minutes and requires only a screwdriver.  All mounting hardware is included, along with detailed video instructions.

Other features:  Our unique corner brackets allow for simple removal of the kit should it ever be required.  Simply press the tab on the corner and the face plate slides out of the clips.  To re-install, simply slide the face frame back into place.

How to Measure:

1. Find the Make and Model of Your Microwave

To ensure accuracy, locate and record the make and model of your microwave. It's important to provide the actual model number, not just the microwave description (e.g. SHARP SMD2470ASY  vs.  24 Inch Microwave Drawer with 1.2 cu. ft. Capacity).  To locate the model number, check the front and back for identification markings or labels. If needed, consult the user manual or your receipt.

2. Measure the Width of the Opening

Using a tape measure, measure the width of the cabinet cut-out from inside to inside. Record the measurement to the nearest 1/16" (e.g.  22-7/16").

3. Measure the Height of the Opening

Measure the height of the cabinet cut-out opening from the bottom to the top. Record the measurement to the nearest 1/16" (e.g. 16-3/8")

4. Measure the Depth of the Opening

Extend the tape measure into the opening, touching the back cabinet wall. Measure from there to the face of the cabinet and record the measurement to the nearest 1/16" (e.g. 23-7/8").

5. Determine the Outside Height of the Trim Kit

Provide the overall height of the trim kit (to the nearest 1/16").  For example, if your cabinet is cutout is 17" tall and you want the trim kit to overlap the opening by 1-1/4" on the top and bottom, you will specify and overall outside height of 19-1/2" (e.g. 17 + 1.25 + 1.25 = 19.5).

6.  Determine the Width of the Kit

Similar to the height, provide the overall width of the trim kit (to the nearest 1/16").  For example, if you may have a drawer below the microwave that is 29-1/2" wide you'd like to match.  You would enter an overall width of 29-1/2".

7.  Lastly, determine if your cabinet has a "lip" on the bottom

In order to manufacture the risers to the correct height, we will need to know whether your cabinet has a "lip" on the bottom.  The pictures below may be useful in explaining what we mean by lip.
